The Form würde

The form würde is the present subjunctive form of werden. Its forms and endings are:
 

FORMS ENDINGS
ich würde -e
Sie würden -en
er/sie/es/man würde -e
wir würden -en
Sie würden -en
sie würden -en

Universal Present Subjunctive: würde + Infinitive

All verbs can form present subjunctives with the appropriate form of würde in the front bracket (F.B.) and the infinitive in the end bracket (E.B.). With t-class verbs, this form is obligatory.
 

  F.B. E.B.
Das würde DM 7,50 kosten.
That would cost 7.50 Marks.


Examples of Present Subjunctive

  • Aha! Vielleicht sind Sie etwas zu gestresst. Eine Erholungskur würde Ihnen gut tun.
  • Das wäre mit unserem Schnelldienst möglich. Das würde 7,50 DM extra kosten.
