Boire is irregular in the Present tense.

BOIRE—"to drink"
 

je bois
tu bois
il, elle boit
nous buvons
vous buvez
ils, elles boivent
Command forms: bois!, buvez!

EXAMPLES
 

Il boit du thé.
He drinks tea.
Le soir nous buvons un verre de vin.
In the evening we (usually) drink a glass of wine.

The verb écrire—"to write" follows a similar conjugation pattern as boire.

ÉCRIRE—"to write
 

j'écris
tu écris
il, elle écrit
nous écrivons
vous écrivez
ils, elles écrivent
Command forms: écris!, écrivez!

EXAMPLES
 

Martine écrit ces lettres à la main.
Martine writes her letters by hand.
Je n'écris jamais de lettres.
I never write letters.
N'écrivez pas au tableau.
Don't write on the board.
 


Examples of Boire and Écrire

  • Oui. Je ne bois pas d'alcool.
  • Qu'est-ce que vous buvez?
  • Je vous écris d'un pays lointain.
