With an infinitive noun, es, or das as an object, lassen means to stop doing something. It is especially frequent in requests and commands.
 

Sie kann das Rauchen einfach nicht lassen.
She simply can’t stop smoking.

Could you stop writing, while we’re speaking?
 
Lassen Sie das, bitte.
Please stop that.
