Negation

The negative construction ne...pas is used to make any statement negative. Ne precedes the conjugated verb and pas follows it.
When ne precedes a verb beginning with a vowel or a silent h-, it is contracted to n.
There is also the negative ne...jamais ("never, not ever") which follows the same word order as ne...pas.
Jamais can also be used by itself.
A third negative following this same construction is ne
plus ("no more," "no longer"):
