Dire can be used in the following ways:

Je ne dis que la vérité.

I say nothing but the truth. (dire + direct object)

Marie me dit que sa mère arrivera la semaine prochaine.

Marie tells me that her mother is coming next week. (dire que + phrase)

Dites-lui de me téléphoner ce soir.
