The Subjunctive can be expressed in both the present and the past. It often appears in a dependent clause after the conjunction que. Examples of the Subjunctive from this program include the following:

The Present tense of the Subjunctive is generally formed from the stem of the third person plural of the Present indicative, to which are added the specific endings e, -es, -e, -ions, -iez, and ent. Since the Subjunctive is almost always preceded by que, we include it in the conjugation tables: -ER VERBS

A few irregular verbs, like boire, prendre, venir and voir have two stems in the Subjunctive, the nous form for first- and second-person plural and the ils/elles form for the rest:
